Labor Doula Care With Blessed Beginnings
Initial Consultation
An initial consultation is provided at no cost to you. This is a chance for you to meet with the Blessed Beginnings doula, begin to get to know one another, and to answer any questions you may have about Blessed Beginnings' services. Upon completion of the consultation, a signed Letter of Agreement accompanied by a deposit indicate your desire to move forward with services.

Telephone and E-mail Support
Upon returning a signed Letter of Agreement with deposit, your doula is available to you for phone and e-mail support throughout the duration of you pregnancy and the postpartum time. A phone call or e-mail following each appointment with your care provider is appreciated. This helps you and your doula continue establishing your relationship and she can answer any questions you may still have following your appointments.

First Prenatal
The first in-home prenatal visit is typically scheduled around 32 weeks (this may be adjusted depending on the date of initial contact). Discussion centers around the mother's vision for her birth and provides her the opportunity to express and discuss any concerns or fears she may have surrounding her birth.
|
Second Prenatal
The second in-home prenatal visit is usually scheduled around 36 weeks. It is preferable to have all non-medical members of the mother's labor support team in attendance at this meeting. This will help to ensure all members are "on the same page" in regards to the mother's wishes and desires for her birth. It also provides the opportunity to discuss the various roles of each chosen support person.
|
Labor & Birth
Once labor begins, your doula is available to come to your home or meet you at the hospital - whichever your preference may be. She will continue to stay with you and support you throughout the labor and birth process. Your doula also stays through the immediate postpartum time and assists with the establishment of breastfeeding, if needed.
|
Postpartum Follow-Up
A postpartum follow-up is usually conducted 2-3 weeks following the birth. This is an opportunity for you to reflect on your birth experience (what went as hoped, what could have been better) and to evaluate the services provided by your doula.
